Project Twilight Stage 1 will provide Off-Grid A/C Solar Power to the recently built Girls Orphanage in the Waterloo Campus of the Orthodox Mission of Sierra Leone led by His Grace Bishop Themi Athamopoulo. Waterloo is a remote suburb 32km from the centre of Freetown and has no poles and wires (electricity grid). The current diesel power there is expensive and fuel and parts are constantly stolen. His Grace Bishop Themi has given his blessing for Mercy Centre Australia to manage and directly fund this important initiative. The Greek Orthodox Parish of St George in Rose Bay Sydney is also proud to support this project through Mercy Centre Australia which is a registered charity linking directly with the Orthodox Mission in Sierra Leone. Mercy Centre Australia was set up in 2013 by St George Parishioner John Golfin to support orphan children in the slums of Bangkok Thailand and is now reaching out to help orphans in other parts of the world.
